Hôtel Saint-Sulpice: first hotel in Quebec to receive GreenStep certification
Montreal, Quebec, since December 23, 2024 – Hôtel Saint-Sulpice is proud to announce that it has become the first hotel in Quebec to be awarded the Sustainable Tourism Silver Distinction by GreenStep, the only hotel certification in Canada recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) this year according to the new standards. This distinction is the result of our participation in the Projet pour une hôtellerie durable (PHD), an initiative supported by the Association hôtelière du Grand Montréal (AHGM), which aims to improve the ecological and social practices of hotels across Quebec.

Thanks to AHGM and our participation in the PHD project, we have aligned our practices to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, thus contributing to more responsible tourism.”
A concrete commitment to the environment
Hôtel Saint-Sulpice has implemented several initiatives to reduce its ecological footprint, including the following:
- Resource management: heat recovery and energy optimization with Fusion, installation of water meters and improved waste management.
- Sustainable mobility: charging stations for electric vehicles, membership of the Route verte by Vélo Québec and support for the Opus et Cie program to encourage public transport.
- Social commitment: Sponsorship of 12 social causes each year, selected by employees, and raising customer awareness about the importance of reducing housekeeping services.
- Eco-responsible certifications and partnerships: “Ici on recycle +” certification and partnerships with local, sustainable suppliers.
- Internal policies: Sustainable development committees, EDI, and responsible purchasing policy.
Towards an even more sustainable future
To ensure the sustainability of this certification, a reassessment will be carried out every two years. Hôtel Saint-Sulpice is committed to maintaining this certification and continuing its efforts to achieve a higher level in the years to come.
